Hekima community based organization is an independent non-profit Community and development
Organization established in 2011 and registered in 2016 in Mombasa County in Kenya under the ministry of
gender and social services. Hekima operates its activities within and across the borders working with
communities in Likoni, Mvita, Nyali, kisauni, changamwe and jomvu Sub Counties among others in Coast
region in Kenya. As a community organization Hekima works closely with the local communities,
authorities, regional administrations, civil society organization, youth and women in building their resilience
and promoting cohesion and development. HEKIMA has implemented two programs on peace building
which was implemented through the groups fundraising. HEKIMA is currently undertaking a second project
on drug and drug substance funded by NATIONAL GOVERNMENT AFFIRMATIVE ACTION FUND (NGAAF) in
conjunction with Mombasa County and so far has successfully supported 14 youth under substances to
reach out. Moreover, Hekima participated implementing a peace pilot project with USAID in likoni Sub

We are also rolling out a youth livelihood project whose overall objective is to improve social and economic
opportunities for vulnerable young women and men aged 15-35 in likoni sub county Mombasa Kenya. Apart
from peace building, Hekima is also actively involved in environmental conservation in close collaboration
with department of health and County Government of Mombasa. Currently the organization has established
a youth empowerment center and is spearheading volunteering in providing basic capacity building
programs to the youth in the region. In the last couple of years Hekima has won compliments from its
Donors, the community beneficiaries in which it has worked with since inception in 2011.
